sure we can encourages local FOOD EFFORTS WITH TRADITIONAL AND INNOVATIVE GARDENING TECHNIQUES
For the last few summers, Sure We Can has used our homemade compost to feed our outdoor garden of tomatoes, lettuce and other greens.
In 2015, we received a Citizens Committee Neighborhood Grant to build a greenhouse with Sprout Farms made out of recycled material such as empty plastic bottles. In 2016, we received a grant from the NYC Parks & Recreation Department to use towards our garden, which we are using to build a larger greenhouse structure.
In addition to a greenhouse, we’re experimenting with aquaponics to allow us to grow food year round, which we can share with our staff, students and community. We hope to continue to expand and grow our gardening efforts. Contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org to join us!
