Bottle Bill Campaign Volunteer Webinar
Want to get involved in the campaign to help pass the Bigger Better Bottle Bill?
We have an opportunity for folks all across New York State to dive into the Bottle Bill campaign: we’re trying to get a better understanding of how thorough the state and Governor Hochul are in enforcing the existing law–our theory is, they are not very thorough! To put some facts behind our feeling, we’ve devised a way for volunteers to help us hold the state accountable, and in which anyone in New York can participate super easily! If you’re interested, join us virtually on Monday, September 22nd at 5pm in which we’ll go through the whole process and get you started!

The Waste Commons - Film Screening
The Waste Commons explores the dramatic transformations involved in the impending closure of the city waste dump in Dakar, Senegal, and the lives that hang in the balance. It follows charismatic Zidane, trailblazing Adja, and their waste picker community, as they battle to defend their carefully crafted worlds and rights to waste.
Riven
“Riven is a documentary play about waste and the pickers working in a world where nothing is sacred. At the heart of this play are Alessandra and Melina, two waste pickers working at a cooperative somewhere in the global south where they’ve built a relationship based on friendship and survival.
Riven was born out of a research and interview process on the reality of waste pickers of Brazil – a community of invisible environmental agents responsible for picking and sorting 90% of the country's recycled materials. Although the research was initiated in Brazil, the play aims to raise awareness and give voice to the global community of pickers, accounting for more than 20 million people around the world.”
